Javier Prado lives at Miguel Regalado #38, Tanaquillo, Michoacan 59790 His wife’s name is Margaret, and her cell # is ##########. The closest city is Zamora in the state of Michoacan. We should be with them on Monday.
We may take the bus 3 hours to Guadalajara to catch Continental Airlines flight # CO2684, non stop to Houston, arriving Bush IAH at 7:42.
Sam’s brother, Jack, has agreed to pick us up and take us to the truck which is parked for the week at Rita’s house. We will call when we get in on Tuesday.
Our itinerary includes a first night’s stay at Poza Rica on the East Coast. We’ll do El Tajin and Teotihuacan and wing the rest, depending upon our feeling of safety. Right now we’re looking forward to it!
The ’92 Chevy van “looks” very respectable, and Sam’s been driving it last week and this week almost exclusively—no black clouds of smoke, fewer rattles, the windows all roll up and down, all cushiony seats accounted for, new tires, new speakers, charged with Freon and filled with gas. We’ve got an old ice chest filled with 10 frozen bottled water containers, fruit, carrots, smoked cheese and tomatoes, plus flour tortillas, chips, trail mix, maps, books, and a bicycle for Sandra (his 12 year old). Sam purchased a new socket set to fit the van for Javier (and for just in case we need them). Adventure! We’ve got passports, marriage license, “official mail” addressed to the house, a permit for the van and a visa for each of us, plus Xerox copies of all. I guess we’re ready.
Alice is excited to be taking care of the animals, and they’ve already got the run down and the key to the back door. If you want to check in, it’s Becky and John Opich, ##########.
Time for a good night’s rest! C
